China Telecom to open UK network using EE
China Telecom is living up to its promise of launching a UK mobile network in 2012. The new virtual network will launch in the next three months, targeting the 400,000 Chinese speaking persons in the UK.
The new venture will be run by China Telecom Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of its parent company with the same name, who’s aspirations are to give Chinese speakers abroad a direct link to the homeland.
The venture is backed by China Telecom, who are investing large sums of money towards targeting Chinese speakers abroad. With 500,000 Chinese speakers in France and 300,000 in Germany, the company could announce further expansion plans in the near future.
